Style Blabber: Sales Shopping Done The Right Way

Who doesn't love a good sale, right? If there is a word that is wonderful and sounds like music to our ears, is the word SALE!! I guess as intelligent women we would never pass on that particular word. However, are they really all they are cut out to be? I say sometimes they can be a double edge sword. You may be wondering if I have gone crazy, but let me tell you, sometimes buying things on sale can end up making you look bad instead of looking great. Here StyleModesta has come up with a list of DO's and DON'T's when approaching sales.

SALE DON'T's

A smart well-edited wardrobe is better than one
 crowded with bad cheap items
  • Don't buy things you don't need just because they're cheap: While paying 100 dollars for a pair of pants that are normally 200 dollars is great, what good do they do if you are never gonna wear them? You'll be stacking up clothes in your wardrobe and would have spent 100 dollars that you could have used to buy something you would actually love to wear.
  • Don't buy the wrong size: Sometimes we love an item and the low price tag on them, if you can't find the appropriate size for you, chances are that even if the piece of clothing is beautiful, it will look bad on you simply because it doesn't fit you.
  • Don't buy seasonal trends: Ok we get it, you spent an entire season gagging over a certain trend, and now at the end of the season you have finally managed to get your hands on an affordable trendy item, but who is to tell you that the trend will carry on by the end of the season or be useful down the road? No one! Being a trend follower is actually not the coolest thing out there, for starters, plus think about it this way: Studs may be hot for fall 2012 but will a studded jacket do you good on summer 2013? Maybe not, simply because it might be way too over used and tired by then!
  • Don't wait until an item you like goes on sale: Truth is, sales are aimed to get rid of the left over stock. If you like an item on the rack as soon as the collection comes out, don't rely on the price of it going lover or on the piece going on sale, because you may be in for disappointment and the item will sell out before you can even get your hand on it.
SALE DO's

  • Do go for the basic and key pieces that will do you good all year long:  We all love a great bargain, and great bargain are those that are useful. Buying beautiful versatile trench coats  black dresses and boots at a very good price is something to be proud on, don't pass out on them. Go for the pieces that you know will be an excellent addition to your wardrobe.
  • Do say no to what you aren't sure of: We all love to buy things that are cheap, like I said. However if an item is not pleasing you or convincing you and the only attractive thing you see about it is the price tag, say no to it without fear, nothing will happen, there will be more sales with better pieces for you.
  • Do wait eagerly for sale season: It is exciting to make it a point to expect for the sale seasons, make a note on your calendar and go out with your friends and spend some money on lower priced items, it is fun, just remember places will be crowded so be patient and keep calm.
Enjoy sales shopping!
  • Do go sales shopping with an open mind: Some people think that all you find on sale is bad stuff, however going into it with an open mind will ensure that you will be able to see and appreciate a great bargain when you see it. Think about finding the unexpected and you will get a great surprise, trust me, some of my best pieces of clothing have been bought on sale.

So next time you come across a sale think about it and don't get fooled by the low price, make smart choices and keep an open mind. Happy sales shopping!

xo and style your life modest!

Love,
Kiki Gil
